Falling in Love With Jesus

  • 17 April 2017

When two people are in love, they want to spend every waking moment together. They talk to each other for hours, sometimes staying up late to do so. There is nothing they don’t share with each other. Everyone hears about this “wonderful” person in their lives. There just aren’t enough good things to say about him or her.

The last couple years, I have been thinking about how God desires this kind of relationship with us. If we love Him as much as we say we do, talking to Him and listening to Him would not be a chore. Talking about Him would be a natural flow because He would consume every part of our lives.

It is really sad when people only turn to God when they need something and, yet, the majority of people seem to do just that … if they talk to Him even then! It’s easy to sing, “Oh, How I Love Jesus,” but do we act like it? Does the world believe He’s our first love?

Love is more than words; it is an action. It is focusing on others instead of ourselves. It is going out of your way to please others. It is making an effort to have a close relationship.  All these are things that the Father desires from His greatest creation–people.

As I write this, I am examining my own heart as well. I’m sure I have flippantly said I love the Lord as well, but I don’t want it to be mere words. As God strengthens my body, I want it to be for His glory.  I want my love for Him to grow each day until I am more in love with Him than anyone else in the world. He has done so much for me. True gratitude would be to give Him my all. That includes my hopes, my dreams, my fears, my passions, my ambitions … everything that makes me “me” so that I can become more like Him. Once that happens, I will truly have succeeded in life.

    Very Good article.

Allow me to share some scriptures.

    Revelation 2:1-7 (KJV)

    2 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;

2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy FIRST LOVE.

5 REMEMBER therefore from whence thou art fallen, and REPENT, and do the FIRST WORKS; or else I will COME unto thee quickly, and will REMOVE thy candlestick out of his place, except thou REPENT.

6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.

7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that OVERCOMETH will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Just think about the church at Ephesus.

Apostle Paul had been at the church.

Apostle Paul wrote one of his best epistles. It has a beautiful prayer in the epistle.

But listen how Paul starts off the epistle.

    Ephesians 1:4 (KJV)

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in LOVE:

Jesus Christ knew what Paul had written and John was writing down about the FIRST LOVE. being holy and without blame before Him.

Paul did not address them as sinners saved by grace, but he called them SAINTS because they were not to be SINNING. We may brush off this part, but we are SAINTS SAVED BY GRACE, not an old sinner saved by grace.

Are we having trouble with sinning? OUR WORDS SNARES US. From the abundance of the heart the mouth SPEAKETH.

I can’t write everything I am hearing from the Holy Spirit.

But the Holy Spirit told John to tell those people to REPENT and return from where they had fallen and do there FIRST WORKS again, become SAINTS again by living holy, without blame in LOVE.

    Does this sound familiar today?

Do the churches have the Holy Spirit with power manifesting itself in them?

Are we seeing sinners coming to the altars and weeping with Godly sorrow because of their sins and getting up being a SAINT.

What were the things we started to do for the Lord, Jesus Christ, but after awhile we stopped doing them?

What were the things that we put off, or quit doing because we felt like they were SINS, yet as we continue in our walk we picked them up again? Yet we realize we seem to have a heaviness, but we fail to do anything about it.

Is our lives CLUTTERED from being in the world and some of the pleasures and elements of this world starting to get attached to us.

REMEMBER where we once was, and from where we have fallen.

REPENT and do our FIRST WORKS.

Jesus Christ is COMING and He is going to destroy our candlestick and we won’t be shining for Jesus.

    God bless you.
